He hit the jackpot and now the lucky winner is heading to the Southern Highlands.
A frequent Bowral visitor is set to become a permanent resident after he won more than $700,000 in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.
The Sydney dad said his dream of moving to the Southern Highlands could now become a reality.
The happy man’s entry was one of six division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto draw 3771 on September 9.
Each won a division one prize of $695,626.88.
In addition to his division one haul, the man’s System 10 entry also won division three 24 times and division four 90 times, bolstering his total prize to $717,183.38.
“Far out! I can’t believe it! That’s great!” he exclaimed when a NSW Lotteries official confirmed his win.
“I had no idea. This is a genuine call I hope. That’s a lovely call on a Monday morning. You’ve definitely made my day.”
The regular Lotto player described himself as a “lucky man” having also won the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot first prize of $100,000 about 10 years ago.
“I’ve also been married to the one girl for decades and have nice kids so I’m very lucky,” he laughed.
The winner explained his Lotto windfall would help expedite his move to the Southern Highlands.
“I’ve been looking at buying a property up there so this will help us to buy a better one. Bowral is a beautiful place – just lovely.”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning System 10 QuickPick from Bowral Newsagency.
Bowral Newsagency manager Teresa Milne said the outlet was celebrating selling its first division one winning entry under its new management.
“The outlet changed ownership in March this year so it’s great to kick off with a division one win so soon,” she said.
“It’s always great when one of our customers wins.”
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3771 on Saturday 9 September 2017 were 12, 42, 40, 21, 35 and 28 while the supplementary numbers were 4 and 9.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 298 so far this calendar year, including 89 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
