The Mittagong Lions will take on the Camden Rams in the group six reserve grade grand final at Campbelltown Stadium.

Mittagong Lions reserve side coach Billy Hayward the team was ready to take on its biggest rival of the season after a week off.

“They’re a good clinical team,” Hayward said.

“No matter what we have to be on our game.

“We had a great week off, and we spoke a lot about commitment.”

The team will play with a full squad including Tim Townsend, who received group six reserve grade player of the year and top try scorer of the year.

Hayward said players cherished the opportunity to play in the grand final.

“Not many people have the opportunity to win the competition. You can’t take it for granted,” he said.

“We’ve got enough experience to get the job done.

“It’s just going to be who wants it more.”

Meanwhile the Bundanoon Highlanders will go head to head with Oran Park/Gregory Hills in the Southern Highlands shield competition grand final at Campbelltown Stadium.

In a milestone for the club, the team will play in its first-ever grand final.

Bundanoon Highlanders coach Chris Conquest said players were determined to remain focused ahead of the game.

The team has kept up a consistent training schedule throughout the season.

“We’re just training as usual and working on our defence,” Conquest said.

“We need to improve that from the last few games. Our attack has got us through.”

The team has to keep an eye on Oran Park’s hooker/dummy half for his ability to score tries as well as the opposition’s halfback for his speed across the field.

Conquest said the team had worked hard to reach this stage of the competition.

“To me personally it means a fair bit,” he said.

“Throughout the year we worked hard through all of those cold, miserable Bundanoon nights.”

Kick off for the Bundanoon Highlanders game is 10.45am and kick-off for the Lions game is 5.15pm.
