Wollondilly MP Jai Rowell said Roads and Maritime Services would install a school zone outside Highlands School along the length of Radio Road and a small section of Bong Bong Road.
“A review of the speed zone outside Highlands School was requested by the school and it was determined the school met the criteria for a school zone,” he said.
“The school zone will create a safer road environment for students walking in the area and crossing the road to school.”
The speed limit on Bong Bong Road will also be reduced from 80km to 50 km along a 1.3 kilometre section of road, from 120 metres west of the Renwick Drive to the intersection with Old South Road.
“It comes after a review was carried out at the request of Wingecarribee Shire Council due to residential development,” Mr Rowell said.
“The review assessed a number of factors including roadside development, traffic patterns, intersection locations and crash data.
Both the school zone signs and the reduced speed limit will be installed on Monday, September 25, weather permitting.
