But in 2017, the competition has returned.
The Southern Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SHCCI) will run the event and chair Steve Horton said it was an opportunity for businesses to promote themselves with thousands to tourists expected during the festival.
“This is an excellent opportunity for businesses to highlight their shop fronts to attract more of the visitors in the region for Tulip Time,” he said.
“The SHCCI has been working with Destination Southern Highlands and the Tulip Time Committee to ensure that this Tulip Time is event better than the last.”
Mr Horton said the chamber had been told by various retails businesses about the slow start to the financial year and to help stimulate interest in local business to both residents and visitors, it decided to hold the competition.
