The tribute, organised by Lily Cassidy, formed part of the Civic2Surf 2017 event, which Harriet led last year.
Civic2Surf is a 340km charity run, spanning from Canberra to Bondi Beach and completed in just 24 hours.
The annual charity event raises money for Batyr, a non-for-profit youth mental health organisation founded in 2011 by Sebastian Robertson.
Harriet’s mother, Fiona Nixon, gave a speech before the run, thanking participants for coming together to remember her much-loved daughter, who lost her life in a freak accident in December 2016.
Lily Cassidy, president of the City2Surf 2017 event, told the crowd she felt “forunate” to be in Harriet’s former role this year, saying “this one’s for you [Harriet], we miss you a lot.”
Josh Dundas also spoke about his friendship with Harriet, who he said was “a remarkable young woman.”
“There are still perplexing moments when I don’t understand why she is gone. If you knew Harriet, you would know she was like no other. She was the perfect combination of compassion, wisdom, friendliness, kindness... she had a country charm but was also a goofball,” he said.
