Last week on Sunday, August 6 the store closed for two weeks to complete a “comprehensive store upgrade”.
The store re-opened on Monday morning, Friday August 18 with a new look.
The renovation was focused around bringing the fresh produce to the front of the store to encourage buyers to make more purchases.
Changes included redesigned shelving, expanded wooden produce bays, as well as a larger energy efficient chiller, and more modern styling.
They also implemented new energy efficient LED lighting, saying “energy management remains a key priority”.
ALDI said that many of the improvements have been implemented following extensive store trials and ALDI’s state-wide roll-out of the new format in South and Western Australia.
Although the renovation included a complete gutting of the original store, ALDI said it would not result in price increases,
“While we’re delighted to be introducing these innovations, we want our customers to know they won’t lead to higher prices,” an ALDI Australia spokesperson said.
“ALDI is committed to offering high quality products at unbeatable value, and this will not change as a result of these upgrades.”
ALDI said the main motivation for refurbishing the store was to “improve the shopping experience of local residents.”
“The Bowral community has come to love the ALDI shopping experience, which offers a convenient way to shop for high quality products,” they said.
There are tentative plans underway complete the same refurbishment at the ALDI store in Mittagong.
“ALDI is committed to offering high quality products at unbeatable value, and this will not change as a result of these upgrades.”
