The club will have not one, but two redeeming games for the under 18s and first grade teams on Sunday, August 20.
There will also be a reserve grade game on Sunday, as well as some junior games on Saturday, August 19.
Club president Dave Elliot said the under 18s had a lot resting on its game.
“Their season depends on it,” Elliot said.
“The team has beaten teams above them and been beaten by teams below them because they’ve been under prepared.
“They’ve been training really hard [lately].”
The under 18s team will seek to improve its ranking of sixth on the ladder in a game against the Picton Magpies.
The ladies league tag team will also play on the weekend.
“They haven’t won a game yet, but they’ve had fun,” Elliot said.
“The team keeps on improving.”
The team is currently eighth on the ladies league tag competition ladder.
Elliot said it was important to have as many Highlanders at the game as possible to cheer on the teams.
“I’ve been president of the club for six years. This is the biggest day for the club,” he said.
“We’d really like to get as big a crowd as possible.”
Elliot said the day was an opportunity for the club to recognise the old boys.
“We try to make the last games of the season an old boys’ day,” he said.
“We set up an area where they can get together and watch the new generation play. When we’ve had it in the past, it has been a really good day.
“There’s a few father and son duos [from the old boys and current teams].”
The day will kick off at Mittagong Sports Ground from 10.30am.
The under 18s team will take on the Picton Magpies at 10.30am.
This will be followed by a game against the Lions ladies league tag team and Oran Park/Gregory Hills at 12pm.
The reserve grade team will go up against the Picton Magpies at 1pm, while the first grade team will also verse the Picton Magpies at 2.30pm.
The Mittagong Junior Lions will also have several finals games on Saturday, August 19 at Harvey Shephard Playing Field.
The under 13B team will take on Moss Vale at 9am, followed by an under 14A game against Mount Annan at 12pm.
These games will be followed by the under 15s and 16s game against Narellan at 1pm.
After the junior games, there will be a disco held at Highlands Golf Club from 6pm.
