The 19-year-old Southern Branch FC member played in the NPL two NSW women’s competition this year.
The team played against Bankstown City, which has ranked third on the ladder.
It was a close game for both teams, that ended in a 2-1 result for the Bankstown team.
Despite this, Adcock said the game was one of the highlights of her first season in the NPL. “I thought our last game was one of our best,” Adcock said.
“We played a couple of weeks ago and didn’t get the result we wanted.”
The score was 2-0 in the last moments of the game, but Adcock was determined to make every second count.
She successfully set up a redeeming goal with one of her teammates in the last minute of the game.
Adcock said she was proud of her contribution in the game.
“When we scored that last goal, it was a good feeling,” she said.
The season has been a learning curve for Adcock, but she has felt well-supported along the way. “When I came into the team three rounds into the season, I felt accepted,” she said.
“I didn’t know anyone but the players took me in and the coaches taught me a lot.”
Adcock’s performance has moved in leaps and bounds.
In particular she has made the most of her position as right wing. “I wasn’t sure how to get the most out of the position. [The coaches] have shown me how to create the most opportunities,” she said.
“It’s taught me so much, it’s like being a part of another family.”
The season has been a career peak for Adcock, who started playing when she was young.
She has played for the Mittagong Soccer Club, as well as teams throughout her schooling life.
Adcock said she hoped to take her career further this year.
“At the moment, I’m playing NPL two. I’m hoping to make the NPL one team next year” she said.
“It’s probably one of the highest levels of female [football].”
Adcock said throughout the season, her family members were her biggest fans.
“When they found out I was playing in the NPL, they were so excited,” she said.
