The pair recently bought The General at Canyonleigh.
The cafe/restaurant has been open for the past month and Mr Woodward said there had been a great response from the community.
For the past two years the pair have run a catering company in the Southern Highlands but soon outgrew their old space and needed a larger kitchen.
As well as serving up culinary delights, The General at Canyonleigh hosted a Makers Market on August 13, the first of what Mr Woodward hopes will be many.
With 15 stalls and more than 200 people, the next market in September is expected to be even bigger.
“We didn’t expect that sort of response from the first one,” he said. “It was definitely bigger than Canyonleigh.”
Over the next 12 months Mr Woodward said they would look at serving all local produce and stock locally made products.”
The General is open on Friday nights with the menu changing each week and will open on more nights as the weather warms up. The cafe menu changes each month
Mr Woodward said they were also hoping to host wine and beer makers dinners.
