The Robertson Spuddies had two nail-biting finishes on the weekend.
The cup team had a close win of 6-4 over Warragamba at Bundanoon Oval on Saturday, August 12.
Meanwhile the shield team were defeated by the Bundanoon Highlanders 6-4 in another close clash.
Spuddies captain and coach Aaron Ditton said while he was happy to see a win for the cup team, there was always room for improvement.
“It wasn’t our best game. We completed well early but it slipped away,” Ditton said.
“[However] we played and defended well.”
The score at half-time was 4-0 to the opposition.
Stand-out players included Chris Barton for his attack and defence and Elijah Pearsall for his performance as hooker.
Jacob Crisp was also one to watch with a strong overall performance.
Ditton said the team had high hopes for a grand final win. “Everyone would enjoy it, being our first year as a team,” he said.
Spuddies captain and coach Aaron de Jagger said despite a loss for the shield team, the players put in an enormous effort. “We’re disappointed we lost but it was a big effort from the boys,” de Jagger said. “It was a great effort all round and a good game.”
De Jagger said the score was 2-0 at half time and each of the players put in a lot of effort in an attempt to even the score.
Robertson currently sits at the top of the group six cup competition ladder.
This is followed by the Narellan Jets, Appin Dogs, Warragamba Wombats and Oran Park/Gregory Hills 1.

Robertson 2 and the Bargo Bunnies round out the rest of the ladder.
The final round of regular season games before the semi-finals will be held this weekend.
