The Restoring Australia initative was launched by Officeworks and has promised to plant two trees for every one used by customers, based on the weight of paper and wood in its products.
Officeworks has partnered with respected environment not-for-profit Greening Australia.
More than 200,000 native plants will be established each year across the country in key locations under the new project.
In the second half of 2017, more than 100,000 seeds and seedlings will be planted across the Southern Highlands, Tasmanian Midlands and Victorian Volcanic Plains.
The initiative’s impact will be felt immediately.
More than 20 species of animals will locate to the new planting areas, water quality will increase and revegetation will protect endangered wildlife.
