But in what promises to be a cracker of a match, the Highlanders will need to defeat Robertson Spuddies in the final round of the regular Shield competition.
Captain/coach Chris Conquest said the team was determined to work on its defence in the final training sessions before the home game.
“Robertson is a strong side to beat,” he said.
“As long as we defend and play well, it’ll be good.”
Conquest said the club had worked hard to get the chance to contend for a minor premiership.
“It would mean a lot to the players and the people that work behind the scenes,” he said.
“It’ll be a good reward for them.”
Grant Perkins, Pete Randazzo and Carl Duncan are just some of the people Conquest said had worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the club a success.
He said while the stakes were high for their final home game, the team was ready for the challenge.
“It gets more serious and the game gets harder coming up towards the finals. There is pressure to improve.
“I’m pretty confident, we’ve got a lot of experienced players.”
Club secretary Pete Randazzo said the Highlanders were determined to play well.
“Robertson is a tough team to beat,” he said.
