Sir Elton John has hand-picked folk/roots duo Busby Marou to open his show in Wollongong this September.

Sir Elton is renowned for an interest in new and up-and-coming artists and has also chosen the pair to open his shows in Mackay and Cairns.

While not exactly household names in Australia, Busby Marou have played with some of the world's most-loved acts including James Blunt, Dolly Parton, K.D. Lang and Pete Murray.

Jeremy Marou and Thomas Busby started out singing around campfires in their hometown of Rockhampton before earning a following once they hit the tour circuit.

Last week the pair performed at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane as the pre-match entertainment for the Broncos VS the Panthers in their NRL finals clash.

Nearly 20,000 fans will pack WIN Stadium on September 24 for Elton John’s sold-out Once In A Lifetime Concert, an event set to inject millions into the Illawarra economy.
