The town was named number two in a report by traffic and highway patrol, with 2256 offences.
Mittagong was topped by Hume Highway neighbour Wilton with 3066 offences.
Chief Inspector Brendan Bernie said police were disappointed with the result.
“It is a reminder of the commitment that local police, especially from the traffic and highway patrol command, have to identify and prosecute speeding drivers,” Inspector Bernie said.
“There are significant penalties for drivers who are caught exceeding the speed limit including fines, loss of demerit points and immediate suspension.
“Police urge motorists to adhere to the speed limits to ensure the roads are safe for all."

Statistics show there were 249,814 people detected for speeding across the state, which was an increase of 25,661 compared to last financial year.
Assistant commissioner Michael Corboy said the increase in speeding offences should concern all motorists.
“Speeding is still the number one killer on our roads, contributing to about 40 per cent of fatal crashes,” Mr Corboy said.
"All too often police, ambulance, fire and rescue, and the volunteer emergency services get called to speed related crashes, and those officers are the ones that see first-hand the sad and tragic outcomes on our roads,”
The ten worst suburbs for speeding offences during the financial year were:
