Despite a strong second half, the under-9s were unable to secure a win against the Wollongong Lions.
Under-11s coach Shannon Prideaux said the Lions got off to a slow start despite a strong win on the previous weekend.
“It was a tough games and the kids really put in 100 per cent but we were a bit slow out of the blocks,” he said.
But the Hawks turned it around in the second half, putting on a strong performance.
“We warmed up to the game and played a really strong second half, we just went down in the contest,” Prideaux said.
“[In the] second half we got through with some good goals.
The under-11s played cohesively but Kiama Power proved to be strong opponents.
Under-11s coach Matt Griffiths said it was a strong contest.
“Our defence was great,” he said.
Griffiths said the loss was a learning opportunity for the junior Hawks.
“We thought we were good at the contest but they showed us how much tougher we need to be.”
Despite the losses, it was an enjoyable weekend for the Hawks’ juniors and their supporters.
