The draft Payment of Expenses and Provision of Facilities policy allows councillors to be reimbursed for “expenses incurred by councillors while undertaking their civic duties”.
Under the new policy, a report on councillor expenses will be made public every six months.
Councillor Ian Scandrett argued council should continue to publish monthly reports of these expenses.
‘A lot of councillors attend a lot of events. It’s a matter of reasonableness and a matter of transparency,” he said.
The document can be viewed on council’s website, at council chambers or at any of the libraries in the shire.
Feedback can be submitted on the draft policy until August 11.
