The Urens house was destroyed by a fire and two of their cats remain missing.
Firefighters managed to return one cat to them on the morning of the fire, but the other two escaped.
Seven-year-old Skye is white with pale grey and ginger splotches while five-year-old Mel is a brown Tabby with a white chest.
Sue Uren said the firefighters were fantastic and thanked them for their efforts.
It is another reminder to all Highlanders to make sure they have fire alarms installed in their homes and are in working order.
Ms Uren said their three alarms were connected and when one went off they all did. If anyone sees either of the cats, call 0419 442 296.
