The collection of poems centres around urban and modern life and is mostly autobiographical of the life lived by Lissett.
“I believe poetry should be accessible to all and not eclectic or abstract but meaningful and even useful to people in their everyday lives,” he said.
Lissett hope his readers reflect and laugh out loud at the absurdities of modern rituals he writes about such as Facebook, air travel and killing cockroaches.
“The poems reflect how much technology and society in general have shifted,” he said.
“On a deeper level ... it is about coming through life challenges and conquering uncertainty, tough times and still finding joy in the world and appreciating the little things.”
Lissett worked in the corporate world for many years, discovering his writing passion at 40. He is currently completing his first novel plus a second poetry collection.
