The Springett Family Foundation has given five community groups a share in a $105,000 donation.
The group has considered numerous applications for the grant at its annual meeting.
Interchange Australia received the largest portion of the funds with a $50,000 donation.
Wingecarribee Day Care Centres and Challenge Southern Highlands (Welby Garden Centre) received $20,000, 92.5FM Youth Radio were given $10,000 and Kollege of Knowledge Kommittee for Kids Inc gained $5,000.
The Springett Family Foundation started in 2004 and has donated $100,000 to organisations and charities each year.
Tony Springett said the five organisations looked after a wide section of the community, including elderly people, people living with a disability and community programs.
“It’s just a joy to see people with a smile on their face,” Mr Springett said.
“We’re hoping to make it more comfortable for them.”
Mr Springett said about $100,000 was donated to community groups annually.
“It’s a thing that’s in perpetuity. When I’m not here, someone will take over. Every year about $100,000 [will be donated],” he said.
Wingecarribee Adult Day Care Centre executive officer Helen Denning said the organisation planned to put their grant towards a renovation.
The recreation room and kitchen at the centre will be extended to accommodate more people, and there will be extra facilities such as toilets.
The renovation will be the organisation’s second in 30 years.
“It’s keeping up with the level of need [with the ageing population] and looking into the future,” Mrs Denning said.
“The Springetts have been very kind this financial year and last financial year.”
Mrs Denning said the day centre had become increasingly popular.
”It’s a lovely avenue to safely come out and have a lovely meal with friends,” she said.
The centre provides people 65 years and over with social interaction, meals and activities, outside of what visitors get from their families.
