Destination NSW’s #ILoveNSW competition called on travellers and amateur photographers to submit video footage of their own journeys in the state.
One of the videos showcased Belmore Falls.
However, National Parks and Wildlife Services (NPWS) raised concerns about the footage, which showed people accessing the base of the falls.
NPWS has blocked access to the base of the falls and photographers/videographers require permits to film in NPWS areas.
After speaking with NPWS representatives, a Destination NSW spokesperson said they had decided to remove the footage from the promotion.
“Destination NSW was disappointed to learn that the video had been filmed in an area that National Parks discourage visitors from accessing,” they said.
“On consultation with National Parks, we have determined that the appropriate course of action is to remove the footage from this promotion.”
The spokesperson said Destination NSW urged all visitors to National Parks in NSW to follow park signage and check in with NPWS information centres or refer to the npws.com.au for up-to-date information.
