The Southern Highlands Local Business Awards is an opportunity for members of the community to recognise businesses that provide outstanding goods and services.
Precedent Productions managing director Steve Loe started presenting awards for businesses in 1985 to recognise the efforts of business owners and their staff.
“My parents were business people, and I grew up helping behind the scenes, so I saw first-hand how hard they worked,” he said.
“I always thought that they and other business people deserved to be rewarded in public for their hard work and dedication just as much as any actor who receives a Logie.”
Customers nominate and vote for businesses in industry categories, with the winners then eligible to be chosen as the overall Business of the Year.
The Southern Highlands Local Business Awards are made possible by the ongoing support of major sponsors, Hume Coal and NOVA Employment and support sponsors, Wingecarribee Shire Council, Boral Cement Berrima and Clifton Accountants.
Mr Loe said the awards sponsors understood the importance of their community’s businesses and wanted to acknowledge their efforts.
“The awards sponsors, through their support, encourage the vital role local business plays in the prosperity and vibrancy of the community,” he said.
He also encouraged members of the community to nominate and vote for their favourite businesses by visiting the awards’ website www.thebusinessawards.com.
Alternatively, a copy of the nomination coupon is available in the Southern Highland News.
Everyone who nominates a business will be in the running to win a GoPro Hero5 Black.
Nominations for the 2017 Southern Highlands Local Business Awards will close on July 25 with the winners announced at the Awards Presentation Evening, on September 20 at Mittagong RSL Club.
The Southern Highland News will provide weekly updates on the progress of the awards program, and will also run a special Finalists Feature and Winners Feature.
