Mr Ward wants the government to introduce a 12-month trial of a bus service between Kiama – where the electric rail service ends and is replaced by diesel – and Bomaderry.
The electric train times don’t always match up with the diesels, leaving commuters waiting on the station for as long as an hour at times.
The buses would better sync up with the electric services.
“Whilst I appreciate that the single track restricts the capacity of the diesel train to meet every Kiama electric service, this shouldn’t be an excuse to do nothing,” Mr Ward said.
“This trial would only be added to train services. I will always support the retention of our rail service.”
Despite meeting with Mr Constance, Mr Ward has started an online petition and moved a notice of motion.
“In order to place maximum pressure on the minister, I have tabled a notice of motion in parliament bringing on a debate about this issue,” Mr Ward said.
