The state government has committed $50 million to the redevelopment.
In the latest state budget $5 million was allocated for this financial year.
Bowral and District Hospital General Manager Valerie Jovanovic said this money would help get construction underway.
“The $5 million budget allocation will be used to continue planning for capital works including development of the design for the new clinical services building and commencement of early construction works in 2017/18,” she said.
“This is an exciting time for the local community as the NSW Government has committed $50 million to the redevelopment of Bowral and District Hospital. This funding will deliver a new clinical services building with improved patient and staff amenities to continue delivering quality health services to the community.”
Ms Jovanovic said a decision on a public-private partnership had yet to be made.
“At this stage Southern Highlands Private Hospital’s (Ramsay Health Care) response to the NSW Government’s Expression of Interest is being assessed. A detailed request for proposal will follow only if significant benefit can be demonstrated.”
