The Moss Vale Magic youth league team took a convincing 108-75 win over Camden Valley Wildfire in round 15 of the competition.
A strong crowd of Magic supporters hit the stadium to spur on the Moss Vale boys.
The Magic shot out to an early lead with a 27-16 lead at quarter time.
The second quarter was a big one for the Magic.
The Moss Vale boys dominated possession and scored a massive 37 points to lead 64-34 at half time.
Half time was celebrated with the Moss Vale Half Time Shootout.
Thomas Shanahan had the chance to win $500, if he could score from the halfway line.
He failed his first attempt and was given another chance.
His second attempt proved successful and and the ball slotted perfectly into the basket.
The Magic players and crowd went wild in amazement, with cheers and screams erupting from the grandstand.
Thomas shared his $500 with Moss Vale Magic under-12 player Elizabeth Nesci.
The exciting half time display spurred the Magic on to score another 26 points in the third quarter, which pushed their lead out to 90-52 heading into the final 10 minutes.
Camden Valley won the last quarter 26 to Moss Vale’s 18 for a final scoreline of 108-75.
Moss Vale Magic coach Kev Campbell said it was a good win for the side.
“The win was a valuable one for the Magic, which depending on other results could see them catapulted into the top four following an upset loss by the Bathurst Goldminers, who were defeated by the Illawarra Hawks earlier in the day,” he said.
Top scorers for the Magic were Billy Campbell with a season high 33 points, Brandon De Souza with 24 points, Zac Ottosson 18 points, Brad Frost 10 points and Josh Watts with 9 Points.
The win was Moss Vale’s 10th for the 2017 season.
The Magic will now travel to Newcastle on July 1 to take on league leaders the Newcastle Hunters with tip off at 3pm.
