On Thursday night a motorist was pulled over by police near the old Waterfall tollgates for travelling at 107km/h in an 80km/h zone.
Except that the 80km/h zone had been relocated further north just the day before.
In June last year the 110km/h speed zone was shortened by more than a kilometre due to the creation of a temporary truck parking bay near the old tollgates while the Mt Ousley heavy vehicle rest area was upgraded.
Following the opening of the Mt Ousley truck stop earlier this month, the temporary rest stop is no longer in operation.
So the 80km/h speed limit was returned to its normal place, starting at the Princes Highway on ramp,
The motorist debated the issue with the police officer, who chose not to give him a fine on the spot but went back to check the speed limit signs.
At this stage it is unclear whether any motorists have been incorrectly fined.
