This will be the second last chance for the Lions to perform in front of their home crowd.
The teams will face-off against Narellan for round nine of the competition.
Lions coach Dan Beardshaw said the first grade match would be a tough battle, but there was hope for the team to secure a win.
“Narellan has some big aggressive boys,” he said. “It will be tough but if we stick to the game plan and play with high intensity we should be able to win it.”
First grade are coming off the back of a 26-18 win against City Kangaroos last week.
Beardshaw said many of the team's standout players were quieter last weekend, which gave the other players a chance to shine.
“More of the boys were able to stand up and they did really well,” he said.
The coach said the Lions had shown a big improvement in their attack over the last few weeks and had only grown stronger as the season progressed.
With the approach of the finals period, Beardshaw said the team would bunker down with a renewed focus.
“We are getting to the business end of the season now so we are going to be working on our combinations,” he said.
“Tom Connick and Dylan Palmer-Quigg have a great partnership and are doing really well.”
Numbers at training have been strong, which Beardshaw said would benefit the Lions in upcoming games.
“We’ve had good numbers and everyone is training well which is the main thing,” he said.
Together, the team members have their eye on the prize as far as continued improvement goes.
“I think this week we need communicate better and our execution with our decision making needs to improve.”
Beardshaw said several reserve grade and under-18s were pushing for a spot in first grade in upcoming games.
“They are working really hard and knocking on the door to play up,” he said.
First grade will kick-off at 2.20pm on Sunday.
Reserve grade will kick-off at 1pm and the under-18s will kick off at 9.30am.
The Mittagong old boys will also have the chance to impress the home crowd with a masters game at 12pm.
Beardshaw said he hoped to see a good crowd head out to support the Lions this Sunday.
