A recent and energy seminar conducted by Simmark at Bradman Museum attracted a packed house with guests eager to learn more about conserving energy and saving money.
The latest home battery storage unit, the Tesla Powerwall 2, was featured at the presentation with strong interest from the crowd around how home battery storage could be used to reduce power costs long-term.
Simmark general manager Matt Simms said it was clear there was a high level of knowledge and interest around the latest renewable energy technology.
“Many locals are looking to harness their solar investment with a home battery storage system, but it is important to take a considered approach, unless the proper assessments and monitoring are done prior to purchasing a solar and home battery system, you won’t get a good return on your investment."
Top tips to those considering investing in home battery storage:
- Analyse your household's actual energy use throughout the day and night - get Simmark to install a free energy monitor
- Shift your household consumption pattern to the daytime as much as possible (use the timer on air conditioner for example)
- Maximise the size of the solar system you install on your home to get the largest rebate and generate as much energy as possible
- Determine if your home has single phase or three phase power - not all products are suited to three phase power
- Deal with a local, well-established solutions provider who employs their own technicians (not subcontractors)
