Red Cross meeting
The next monthly meeting of the Red Cross Moss Vale branch will be held on June 21 at 2pm. This will be held at a property in Yarrawa Road, Moss Vale. Plans for fundraising activities and the AGM to be held on July 19 will be among the topics discusses. Navigation Shield
Members of the Southern Highlands Bushwalkers can put their wilderness skills to the test on June 24 and 25 when they take part in the Navigation Shield. This year the club will place a team in the event and people are urged to contact Malcolm as soon as possible if they are interested as entries have to be submitted by a set date. The cost will depend on number of people entered but will be about $50 a person. The location is unknown until one week before the event. Details: Malcolm on 4889 8661 or 0490 803 576.
Cancer Support
Southern Highlands Cancer Centre Support Group will meet next on June 24 in the conference room at Southern Highlands Private Hospital. This is open to past and present Southern Highlands Cancer Centre patients and their carers. Guests speakers give a presentation during meetings held on even months and suggestions of topics are welcome. During odd months guests can meet less formally. The meeting is held from 10am to 11.30am. RSVP to social worker Katie Moran for catering purposes to Katie at 4862 9469.
Woodies meeting
Southern Highlands Woodies Group Inc will hold its next monthly meeting on June 24 at Charlton Hall, within and at the rear of HarbisonCare, Burradoo. The Club House will open at 9am with show and tell of members’ recent works from 11am. This is followed by a meeting at 12.30pm with a demonstration of small detailed items by Ken Sullivan from 1pm. Miniature railway
The next running day for the Highlands Miniature Railway will be at Moss Vale showground on June 24. The miniature trains will be running from 9.30am to 3.30pm (weather permitting). the railway is situated at the far eastern corner of the showground (Robertson end). Signs will be out for directions. Winter Solstice Market
The Railway Street Fresh Food and produce Market will mark the shortest day of the year with a special event to warm the spirit. Organisers will present a Winter Solstice Market in Railway Street, Moss Vale, on June 22. The market will kick off at 3pm and will continue to 5pm. It will offer a variety of special treats to mark the shortest day of the year. There will be Solstice Soup by Moonacres Harvest Kitchen, mulled wine and cider, a warming fire-pit with roasted potatoes and music by Cilla-Jane Leighton Daly. There will also be lots of room for the kids to run and play after school as well as sweet but wholesome afternoon tea treats and as always fresh and local fruit and vegetables, eggs, bread, biodynamic meat, wine and more.
