The Spuddies lost 22-14 to the Dogs on Saturday at Robertson Showground.
Spuddies Cup captain/coach Aaron Ditton said it was a very physical match.
“Appin were pretty rough and physical, you definitely wouldn’t say it was a clean match,” he said.
Ditton was knocked out in the second half just one metre out from the line and said he was disappointed in the match.
The captain/coach said it wasn’t the worst game the team had played but there were improvements that needed to be made.
“We dropped a bit too much ball and we shot ourselves in the foot by making a few too many errors,” he said.
Appin was first to cross the try line in the first half but the Spuddies were quick to reply with a try.
Ditton said Griffin Turner and Chris Barton were the standouts for the Spuds.
“They both played pretty well for us right through the match,” he said.
The last time we played them they were pretty handy, but it was the same sort of thing we dropped too much ball. Hopefully we can complete our sets this week and we should be able to go one better and get the win.
