Moss Vale White took an 8-0 victory over Mittagong Yellow in the women’s premier league football competition on May 20.
Moss Vale started their lead early in the first half and by half time extended their lead to 6-0.
Amy Fitzgerald, Rachel Hayes and Natasha Smith scored two goals each by teh half time whistle.
The Moss Vale girls capitalised on most of their opportunities and were pushed ahead by their defence and ball handling efforts.
The Red and White came back with force in the second half, with Smith and Hayes once again hitting the back of the net.
Although Mittagong lost the match, captain/coach Krystal Turner said her team never gave up.
“Over the last few rounds they’ve come together as a team and are learning how to play as a team, their passing has also gotten much better,” she said.
All of the Mittagong players bar two are under-16 and Turner said the girls are growing every week.
“They are developing a great bond which is really good especially for a young team,” Turner said.
Turner said Lauren Goodfellow was a standout for Mittagong Yellow on Saturday.
“She never gives up. Every week she goes hard and she doesn’t stop,” she said.
“I call her my enegiser bunny.”
Mittagong Yellow will play Yerrinbool at Joe Smith Oval on May 27.
“I don’t have any expectations that we will win or lose I just expect the girls to try their best and have fun,” Turner said.
“Yerrinbool are also a young team so it should be a good game, even if we don’t win I’ll still be proud of our girls because they are still learning.”
The match will commence at 1pm.
