Narellan Jets took a 28-26 victory over the Spuddies in the final moments of the match at Bundanoon Oval.
Spuddies captain/coach Aaron Ditton said the loss came down to the Spuddies poor defence.
“We didn’t defend well and that’s what it came down to,” he said.
“We attacked alright but the defence was just really lacking.”
The Spuddies were ahead 16-10 at the break but weren’t able to carry the lead in through to the final buzzer.
“We also dropped too much ball which also let us down overall,” Ditton said.
Ditton said Tully Manuzic was the standout for the Spuddies.
“He was controlling the ball in the pack for the majority of the game,” he said.
“He set up three of our tries so he was a very handy player.”
The Spuddies will play Appin in front of a home crowd on May 27.
“It’s always good to play at home so that should spur us on,” Ditton said.
“The last time we played Appin we contemplated at about 100 per cent.
Ditton said the Spuddies could win if thy worked well together as a team.
“If we pick up our completion rate and defend well we should be able to beat them again,” he said.
The game will kick off at 2.30pm at Robertson Showground.
