Donation tins were set up at the games to raise money for Camden Rams player Chris Browne, who recently suffered an ankle injury during a first grade game against Oakdale Workers on April 29.
Browne was operated on recently to repair a devastating compound fracture and dislocation of the ankle, but will most likely never play rugby league again.
The funds raised by the Lions will go towards Chris and his family’s living expenses and medical costs over the next few months.
Chris and the Camden Rams were presented with the donations on Sunday night at the Highlands Golf Club.
Chris thanked everyone from the Mittagong Lions community for their generosity and support.
Mittagong Junior Rugby League Club secretary said it was a wonderful cause that showed support for the Group 6 family.
“Mittagong Junior and Senior Rugby League Clubs wish Chris and his family all the very best in a quick and speedy recovery,” he said.
