The stunning Autumn colour of the Southern Highlands has not been lost on keen photographer Jennifer Sue Clark. Jennifer snapped this scene in the grounds of St Jude’s Church in Bowral. The stunning hues of red, gold and orange can be seen across the region as the weather cools.
These autumn colours are caused by the break down of chlorophyll. The green color disappears, and the yellow to orange colors become visible and give the leaves their Autumn splendour. At the same time other chemical changes may occur, resulting in additional colors through the development of red anthocyanin pigments.
