The club took a home ground victory over Robertson in the men’s premier league competition.
The round two match was hotly contended by both teams, but Exeter ultimately took victory with a 4-1 score.
Exeter opened the scoring in the first half when Dean Elphick hit the back of the net. Robertson replied with a goal from Daniel Freere.
The half time scores were close with Exeter just keeping ahead 2-1. Exeter captain Sean Elphick said his team struggled a bit in the first half.
“The scores were pretty even at half time. We had a lot of chances but weren’t able to score,” he said.
Exeter came back with force after the break and added another two goals to their total.
Although Exeter finished ahead, Elphick said Robertson put up a hard fight.
“They certainly weren’t a pushover. They had a few chances, but like us, they weren’t able to finish them off.”
Elphick said his team had been hindered by the wet weather throughout the pre-season.
“We haven’t really had any chances to train together,” he said.
“We need to work on finishing off our chances and increasing our match fitness is a must.”
