While many are highly visible at the school, some have been developing behind the scenes.
Visitors to the school would be aware of extensive construction upgrades to the administration building and classrooms.
The upgrades at the school, which caters for students with special needs, will mean improved access and mobility for students with physical disabilities.
Principal Linda McLaughlin said the school community was “delighted” with the improvement project.
“The new rooms have better bathroom facilities and improved access for all of our students,” she said.
Mrs McLaughlin, who has been principal of Tangara School since 2014, also held the role of principal for four years from 2001.
“I have enjoyed all of my time at Tangara School. It’s such a close-knit community – it’s essential to work and plan and celebrate student success with their families,” she said.
“You take a very holistic view of educating the children, because the education programs are catered to their individual needs and are developed in consultation with their families.”

Mrs McLaughlin’s retirement was a quieter celebration.
Teachers, students and their families joined together for a farewell lunch at the end of Term 1 to thank Mrs McLaughlin for her contributions to the school.
Mrs McLaughlin began teaching in 1976 in the UK.
After an opportunity for further study presented, she completed a Master of Special Education and found a new passion in Australia.
Despite all she’s achieved for Tangara, the outgoing principal’s focus was on thanking the Highlands community when she said her goodbyes.
“It’s really important to mention the wider community because Tangara is so well supported,” she said.
“The wonderful support they give to the school by volunteering and financial support to upgrade our school grounds and improve resources for students is so appreciated.”
Sarah Geary, a Department of Education senior psychologist, will take on the role of relieving principal at Tangara, beginning from Term 2, 2017.
“I hope to follow in Linda’s footsteps and continue where she’s left off,” she said.
