Several bins were set alight in the evening hours of Thursday, April 13, leaving residents to find their burnt-out wheelie bins on the morning of April 14.
The attack appears to have been an act of senseless vandalism.
Several residents of Mack Street and Bellevue Avenue were affected and have temporarily been left without a means to dispose of their recycling.
A council spokeswoman said although council’s waste services were managed by JR Richards and Sons, residents should contact council if their bins were damaged.
