Soul Time
Soul Time will be held on April 16 from 10.30- 12pm at the Henrietta Rose Room, Bendooley St. It will include live music, audio-visual pieces, readings from faiths and philosophers, authors, leaders and indigenous cultures. The theme is ‘A Time for Renewal’, reflecting on rejuvenation and transformation, and how these two principles affect our material and spiritual development. Live music provided by Louise Charman-James, who uses voice as a healing tool with a deep connection to song as spiritual practice. It is a free community service event open to all. Parkinson's Support
The next meeting of the Southern Highlands Parkinson's Support Group will be held on April 18 at 10am at the Mittagong RSL. The guest speaker will be Professor Stephen Lord who will talk on Falls Prevention.
Author talk
Friends of Wingecarribee Libraries will host award-winning Australian author Andrew Patterson on April 18. A former Detective Sergeant in the West Australian Police, Mr Patterson has also served as chief investigator with the NSW Commission Against Corruption. He will speak at the Henrietta Rose Room at 10am. The cost will be $10 for FOWL members and $15 for non-members. Bookings essential. Garden Morning Tea
The Rodmell Fund will hold a Garden Coffee Morning on April 20. The morning will begin at 10.30am at 58 Eridge Park Road, Burradoo. The cost will be $20 and includes a raffle ticket. RSVP by April 18 to Dee Morgan at deemo_2000@yahoo.com.
First Fleeters
The Fellowship of First Fleeters Southern Highlands Chapter in conjunction, with the Berrima District Museum will host a Stitched with Love exhibition. The exhibition will feature convict bonnets dedicated to the pioneering ancestors of the Highlands and will coincide with the National Heritage Festival. Members and friends of the First Fleeters chapter created the bonnets. Linda Emery will open the exhibition on April 19. It will run until May 21 from 10am-4pm Wednesday to Sunday. Entry $5 at the Berrima District Museum.
Royal Society
The Southern Highlands branch of the The Royal Society of NSW will host Professor Michael Kennedy on April 20. He is Conjoint Associate Professor UNSW and Clinical Pharmacology St Vincent’s Hospital Consultant Physician and Clinical Pharmacologist. His interests are in forensic pharmacology, drugs in sport and adverse drug reactions. Professor Kennedy’s talk will be about “what happens to drugs after death”. He will discuss some spectacular criminal convictions directly related resulting from interpretation of drug concentrations after death. He will be at the Performing Arts Centre at Chevalier College. The cost of the lecture will be $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Following the lecture, there will be a dinner with the lecturer,at The Briars. Foursquare guest speaker
Pastor John Fergusson will be the guest speaker at the Foursquare Church at Welby on April 23. He is an accomplished teacher and public speaker. He has pastored for many years in the US and Australia while travelling the world. He will speak at 9.30 at the church at 82 Mittagong Street, Welby. Details: 4871 3290.
Bushwalkers
Southern Highlands bushwalkers will enjoy an overnight camp on Blue Gum Mountain on April 23. The stay will include an exploratory walk through the rainforest gully and mountain views over Nattai River. Details: Greg 0419 330 908.
Singalong
Mittagong Uniting Church will hold a singalong on April 24. All will be welcome to come along and be entertained by the Mittagong Senior Citizens Ukelele Band. An eight week program to improve your relationship with others and yourself will start in the Highlands on May 6 from 12pm. Participants will learn the importance of listening in all areas of life.
