The inaugural Stars of the Southern Highlands Dance for Cancer campaign has been launched, and the local stars have found out which dance styles they will be performing.
Cancer Council’s community relations coordinator Kelly Dinnerville said the event would be similar to the television show Dancing With The Stars.
“We have brought together 10 local business people and paired them up with local dance instructors,” she said.
“Each couple will learn a dance over the next six weeks and then perform together at the gala event on May 19.”
The 10 teams are:
- The BATH’s Gail Withers with Point Dynamic Arts’ Bonnie Curtis
- SeeSaw Promotions’ Thomas Farquhar with A&L Danse’s Marie Fisher
- Highlife Magazine’s Paul Lovell with THSPA’s Lynne Lyndsay
- Hojo Cafe’s Dean Fitzroy with Polka Dot Fitness’s Lauren Snowden
- Duncan Hill Property’s Duncan Hill with Flamenco Solymar’s Marisol Santos
- Southern Highland News’ Madeline Crittenden with THSPA’s Lucianna Spackman
- Bradman Foundation’s Rina Hore with Point Dynamic Arts’ Monique Barrios
- Shaz’s Secrets’ Nicole Harlow with THSPA’s Anna Nilsson
- Mic Mac Boutique’s Sylvie Roberts with Ballroom Blitz’s Keith Nicholson
- Plus Fitness Mittagong’s Tom Willoughby with Miriam Giles
Money raised by the teams will be used to purchase a new car for the Highlands’ General and Practical Support (GAPS) program. “This will enable volunteers to carry out their tasks without having to use their own vehicles,” Ms Dinnerville said.
