Registrations have opened for the 2017 Bowral Classic, following the inaugural event in 2016.
Bowral Classic organiser James Yaffa said the inaugural classic was a huge success.
“In its first year we attracted more than 3,000 riders to an event that has already established itself as a go-to ride in a region that can only be described as the state’s Cycling Mecca,” he said.
The 2017 Classic will cater for all skill levels and will have three categories for cyclists to choose from.
Riders of the 160km Maxi Classic and 120km Bowral Challenge (up from 90km) will take on ‘Airport Ascent’ via Old South Road.
In addition, Maxi riders will tackle ‘Cardiac Hill’ around Kangaloon.
There is also a ‘Sample the Southern Highlands’ course, which will be a 45km multi-stop event where riders can ride at their chosen pace.
Riders have the freedom to choose their own charity to raise funds via the event which sets it apart from the majority of rides that support single causes.
In 2016 the ride raised $109,000 for charity and this year the aim is to hit the $250,000 mark.
