Two Highlands women will run through the desert to raise needed funds for an important Australian cause.

Mel Farrow and Nerissa Nickl will participate in the Big Red Run, a 250km staged run through the Simpson Desert in June.
This run involves multiple marathons, a sprint of 30kms and a long day which will put the women in the desert for 84kms.
As part of the event, they are also fundraising for JDRF Australia.
JDRF funds research programs into Type 1 Diabetes. Their mission is to accelerate life changing break-throughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and it’s complications.
The team has set a goal of raising at least $2000
Ms Farrow and Ms Nickel will also host a fundraising bootcamp with the support of personal Training business CFitness.
The bootcamp, held on May 7 at Lake Alexander, will be followed by a champagne breakfast.
The camp will cost $20.
