Wollondilly MP Jai Rowell has accepted a position of special advisor to the NSW government.

The role will focus on how the state government can strengthen and integrate science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) into the industry and education sectors.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said improved access to STEM streams in school was a major focus of the government.
“We want to make sure we are working with industry to ensure NSW secures and creates as many innovative ‘jobs of the future’ as possible,” she said.
“So I am happy that Jai has agreed to take on this important role.”
Mr Rowell will also be involved with chairing a new government backbench committee focused on science, industry and innovation.
The committee will advise:
- How the NSW government can optimise STEM opportunities around the new Western Sydney Airport
- Opportunities to expand on STEM-based economic development in regional NSW.
- Collaborative opportunities for the public and private sectors in STEM-based industries and education.
Mr Rowell said he was very excited to take on the challenge.
“Wollondilly is full of opportunities for new, smart industries and education facilities,” he said.
“I’m thrilled to have a chance to highlight opportunities in my local area, as well as across NSW.”
Mr Rowell will report to the Premier within the next 12 months.
