A Berrima Courthouse Ghost Hunt will be held March 25, where participants will be taken through the historic precinct after dark.
The courthouse site was chosen in 1834 by Governor Burke, but the building wasn’t officially opened until April 1838.
Some of Australia’s most notorious early criminals, including the first serial killer John Lynch, were tried and executed at the courthouse.
It is also thought the ghost of muderess Lucretia Dunkerly, who was hanged in 1843, plays with women’s hair and whispers in people’s ears.
The ghost hunt costs $85 per person, and goes from 8.00pm until midnight. Mete at the Surveyor General Inn for dinner beforehand. Details: www.appighosthunts.com/berrima-court-house-ghost-hunts.html.
