Some of the Highlands best have taken to the field for the 2017 Country Rugby League Championships.

Week two of the competition was played on march 11.

Mittagong Lions’ Byron Pinkerton was selected as captain of the Greater Southern Redbacks under-18 squad.

Highlander Joshua Conquest was also selected to play in the round two match against the Western Rams.

The Redbacks put up a hard fight but were unfortunately defeated 30-18 by the Rams at Kirkham Park in Camden.

The under-16s Redbacks also has Highlands representatives.

Kair Wortz fought for the Redbacks in the under-16s match against the Western Rams. The physical match finished in a very close 30-34 win to the Rams.

Both teams will play again on March 18 against the Greater Southern Stingrays at Mackay Park in Batemans Bay.

Country Rugby League selectors will be present at each match and will select players for the Country U16/18 Representative teams which will tour later in the year.
