3:30pm:
The winners have been announced.
The People’s Choice award was won by Ryan and Rosslyn Cuerden. They received a cheque for $2000.
The judges deliberated for 20 minutes, and gave the following results:
Third place: Ryan and Rosslyn Cuerden. They received a $750 gift card to Bowral Co-op
Second place: Nyssa and Alex. They received $1000 from Moss Vale McDonalds
First place: Alex McIntyre. She received $3000 from Moss Vale McDonalds.
Alex McIntyre, 20, is originally from Bowral, and impressed the judges with her raw sound and self-written songs.
Alex said she was surprised to win the $3000 prize.
“I’ll put it towards my music, recording time and some new guitar pedals,” she said.
Alex has been playing guitar since she was in Year 3, but didn’t discover she could sing until she reached high school.
She said the inspiration for her songs came from considering other people’s perspectives.
“It’s something different for every song, it might be from a movie or book, I want to tell the story of those characters,” she said.
“They’re not always from personal experience.”
