He has been an announcer at the event for the past 17 years.
He started out calling the trot races, and he’s been behind the mike ever since.
“I say whatever I want, but it’s all in a bit of fun,” he said.
“Just looking out the window, that’s the fodder that gives me something to talk about all day.”
He shares announcing duties with his daughter Rachel, and ‘The Mouth of the South’ Pat Cleary.
He’s also training up Jason Player as his apprentice.
“We will break him to be the same as us,” Mr Knight said.
“That won’t take too much teaching.”
Mr Knight said he enjoyed announcing at Robertson because it was still a true country show.
“Here at Robertson, the whole family is involved,” he said.
“I look forward to it every year.”
Mr Knight has many fond memories at the Robertson Show.
“One year my youngest daughter was in the hay stacking, and she wore a mini skirt, so of course they put her on the top.
“Blokes were saying to me ‘look at that shelia up there’, and I’d say ‘that’s my daughter’. When they’d apologise, I’d say ‘don’t worry, it’s her fault for wearing that’.”
Mr Knight and his team announce the show from the room above the pavilion.
The 2017 Robertson Show is on March 10 and 11.
