The 134th show will be overflowing with quirky events unique to this weekend country event.
Robertson Show office manager Rosemary Turner said it was the greatest country show because organisers strove to maintain a true country flavour.
“The atmosphere is unique - friendly, fun and informative, with a happy-go-lucky ‘she’ll be right, mate’ attitude when fog or rain dampens the day’s events,” she said.
“This is enhanced by the broadcasting team with their sometimes slightly politically incorrect observations but always funny commentary.”
She said everyone should take the chance to take part in this community event.
“The aim of the Show is to not only showcase our produce and livestock but to educate the general public about agricultural pursuits and endeavours, as well as provide fun with events designed for public participation.”
For the first time, attendees are encouraged to jazz up their gumboots for the Rockabellas Gumboots Fashion in the Field competition.
Paint them, stick on bling, add a few lights and make them glamorous, ugly or just plain funny.
The first day of the show will feature dairy cattle judging, horses, miniature goats and chook washing demonstrations, along with the children’s ‘Spud Olympics’.
The events are packed into the second day, with horses, beef cattle and poultry on display, along with the Holands Hot Dogs Pet Show at 10.00am, Frank Laurie Memorial push bike races at 11.00am, Gumboot in the Field Parade at 1.00pm, the potato sack races from 2.30pm and further novelty events from 3.00pm.
These include junior potato bowling, hay bale hurdles boot races, wheelbarrow races, egg throwing, pumpkin lawn bowls and pie eating competiton.
This will be rounded out with the Dapto Clutch and Brake Demolition Derby about 6.30pm, Bowral Co-op hay stacking, Handley Spreading ute pull and Sth Constructions dog jumping.
The pavilion will be full of magnificant displays from fruit, vegetables and flowers to knitting, sewing, cookery, arts, crafts and more.
The show will be farewelled for another year with the fireworks at about 9.00pm.
The Robertson Show will be held March 10 and 11 from 9.00am at 2315 Kangaloon Road, Robertson. Those needing disabled parking spots should book in advance through the office on 4885 1620. Details: www.robertshow.org.au.
