The day was a traditional display of polo, showcasing two polo matches, a divot stomp, a mens and ladies dash as well as fashions on the field.
Matches were played on a smaller field to provide spectators with a closer view and a more action packed experience.
Game one, played between Royal Hotel Bowral and Southern Highlands brewing Co was played for the Southern Highlands Polo Cup.
The match was contested over four quarters with players giving spectators a great taste of polo action.
The age-old divot stomp tradition kept spectators enthused at halftime.
During play, small patches of dirt and grass are torn up by the horses quick starts, stops and turns.
Spectators were welcomed onto the field to "stomp” the divots back into place.
The Royal Hotel Bowral team claimed a 7–5 victory against Southern Highlands Brewing Co to take home the cup.
Ray Bruce was the standout for the Royal Hotel Bowral and was awarded most valuable player.
Southern Highlands Brewing Co’s Lochie McGiuness scored three goals on pony Angelique, which was awarded most valuable pony.
“She was fantastic, really fast and really strong,” McGiuness said.
The second match was played between Mercedes Benz Macarthur and Gubbins Home Hardware for the Mercedes-Benz Macarthur Cup.
The Highlands Gubbins Home Hardware team got off to a strong start against the Macarthur team and finished with an 8-7 victory.
Southern Highlands Polo Club president Paul Manka said the inaugural event, which was sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Macarthur, was a huge success.
“We have to thank everyone for their enthusiasm at the first ever Southern Highlands Polo,” he said.
“It was absolutely fantastic and we can’t wait for next year."
Manka said the Southern Highlands Polo Club hoped the event would become an annual attraction on the polo calendar.
