Author talk
Jim Haynes OAM, the author of the book Australia’s most unbelievable true stories will be the guest speaker at the next author talk presented by Friends of Wingecarribee Libraries. Haynes is an Australian author, writer, entertainer, broadcaster, humorist, songwriter and historian. He has written more than 22 books. He will speak at the Author Talk at 10am on February 21 at the Henrietta Rose Room, next to Bowral Library. Morning tea will be served after the talk. Entry is $10 for FOWL members and $15 for non.members and bookings are essential. Payment can be made at the library, direct debit into the FOWL account with BSB 641 800 and account number 200256114. (Include full name as a reference). Cheque payment can be mailed to the FOWL treasurer at PO Box 375, Bowral, 2576.

Mittagong CWA
The Mittagong Branch of CWA will meet at the CWA rooms in Winifred West Park, Mittagong, February 22. Activities will begin with handicraft at 10am. This will be followed by lunch at midday and a meeting from 1pm. Visitors are welcome. Details: Beverley on 4871 1483.
Moss Vale CWA
Moss Vale CWA welcomes all to their monthly meeting February 24. The meeting begins at 12.45 for a 1.00pm start. The meeting will be followed by a delicious afternoon tea and lots of chatter. Details: Jennifer on 0418 600 068.
Cancer support
The Southern Highlands Cancer Centre Support Group meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month with the next meeting on February 28 at the conference room at Southern Highlands Private Hospital. The meeting begins at 10am and continues until 11.30am. Facilitator is Katie Moran. The group offers support to both past and present Southern Highlands Cancer Centre patients and their carers. There is a guest speaker at meetings held during even months and suggestions of topics are welcome. During the odd months patients and carers can meet less formally. RSVP is needed for catering purposes and can be made through Katie on 4862 9469.
Woodies meeting
The Southern Highlands Woodies will hold their next meeting on February 25 at Charlton Hall, within and at the rear of HarbisonCare, Burradoo. Activities will kick off at 9am when the club house opens. Show and Tell of Members’ recent works will be held from 11am. President’s Challenge items this month are Bracelet/Napkin Rings and a Cake Stand. There will be a short monthly meeting from 12.30pm with a presentation on workshop familiarisation by Michael Hurley from 1pm. Coffee and chat
Members of the Southern Highlands Evening VIEW Club, will get together for a Coffee and Chat morning on February 22 from 10.30 am at Coffee Culture, Bowral, near the Empire Cinema. New members are welcome. VIEW supports The Smith Family and the Learning for Life programs helping disadvantaged Australian children with their education. Come along and join us for our first social get together for the year. We are a happy group of women, supporting a great cause.
Anxiety disorder support
Moss Vale Anxiety Disorder Support Group meets on the first Saturday and second Wednesday of each month. Meetings are held at Moss Vale Service Club with the next meetings to be held on March 4 from 3pm and March 8 from 10.30am. The support group is open to people with anxiety disorders as well as their family and friends. The group is for people aged over 18 and is not suitable for people with schizophrenia or PTSD. Highlands bushwalkers
Southern Highlands Bushwalkers Inc will head to the coast on February 26. The walkers have the chance to enjoy some fresh salt air and ocean views while tackling a path that takes in Port Kembla and Hill 60. The Sunday trek will include walking through rock pools.There will also be the chance for a swim at either the beach or the Port Kembla pool. This walk covers about 10km. Day of Prayer
An inter-church service for World Day of Prayer will be hosted in the Moss Vale area by Christ Church Bong Bong on the corner of Argyle Street and Church Road, Moss Vale. This will be held on March 3 from 2pm. Millions of Christians from various races and cultures will be praying for the concerns and needs of the world on this same day. This year the focus will be on the needs and opportunities of the Philippines. Afternoon tea will be served following the service and everyone is welcome. Details: 4858 0608.
Bowral’s Day of Prayer
A World Day of Prayer service will be held on March 3 at Bowral Church of Christ, Wingecarribee Street, Bowral from 10am. All are welcome to join millions of men, women and young people around the world, in a wave of prayer throughout the day. This is a time for fellowship between all churches in the community. A morning in the garden
Wingecarribee Adult Day Centres and the Bowral Four Seasons Community Garden at the Adventist Church will present a special morning in the garden on March 8 from 10am until midday. People are invited to take a stroll through the garden and settle in for a light Devonshire tea while enjoying a musical interlude. There will be stalls selling plants, cakes, biscuits and produce and volunteer gardeners to answer questions. There will also be talks and information from a waste education project officer. Bunnings representatives will also be on ahand and music will be provided by The Lads and Lassies.
