The first senior training session was held on January 19 and coach Gene Fairbanks said the team is headed toward a big year.
“In comparison to this time last year we have grown in leaps and bounds and the buzz at training is encouraging,” he said.
The senior club hopes to field three grade teams and colts side this year and a number of new players have signed up to play with the Blacks in 2017.

Trial games have been locked in at home on March 4 and March 18 against Shoalhaven and Penrith Emus and Canberra Royals, respectively. Thee games against Penrith and Canberra will be played in a round robin format.
The first match of the senior competition will be played on March 25.
The senior coaching appointments have also been announced for 2017. Peter Burt will be the director of rugby, Gene Fairbanks will remain in his position as head coach, Al Kanaar will be assistant coach and Val Tyson will be the Colt coach.
The juniors will be fielding a full quiver of teams from under-7's to First XV as well as a girls 7s team.
The club will host registration days for juniors at Eridge Park on Feruary 25 from 12pm to 3pm and March 12 from 10am to 2pm.
The first junior training session will be held on March 4 and the first round will commence on April 2.
The junior club are also in need of coaching staff right through from under-7s to First XV.
Volunteers are needed for the following roles:
- Canteen co-ordinator
- Gear shed and change room co-ordinator
- Coach (or coaches) - responsible for coaching and running the team on game day.
- Manager - responsible for coordinating playing uniform, filling out match day result sheet.
- Match Day Controller - crowd direction, timing yellow cards.
- Parent Rep – co-ordinating volunteers for canteen.
