It’s that time of the year when parents and students are getting ready to head back to school.
Thousands of children will return to school across the Highlands starting from January 30.
For many it will be an exciting new chapter in their lives as they start school for the very first time or make the transition to high school.
Lucy Stokes, Allie Gould and Isaac Compagnoni are just three students who will start their educational journey at St Michael’s this year.
Both Lucy and Allie have older sisters at the school who are excited to help guide them through their first days at school.
Liz Stokes said Lucy had been very excited to start Kindergarten.
“I'm super excited for Lucy to start Kindy. All she wanted to do was get her uniform and especially her lunch box. She's extremely excited to learn with Mrs Bourke-Nash and see all of her friends,” she said.
“Although sending my baby off to Kindy is a little sad for me, it's such a lovely feeling when you know they are so completely ready and excited to go. Lucy has her big sister to watch over her too but I can almost guarantee it will be Lucy that will want to take the lead and do it on her own.”
With school starting again for another year, school zones will also be in operation again from January 30.
Most school zones in NSW operate from 8am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4pm.
For parents who have questions leading up to their children’s return to school, the NSW Department of Education will have a back to school hotline
The back to school hotline will operate between January 27 and February 24 to help parents and caregivers with questions they may about the NSW public education system.
Call 1300 738 338 on weekdays between 8:30am to 4:30pm.
